Radisson Hotel Group has revealed plans to double its portfolio of operating hotels in Thailand by mid-2024, with the opening of the first Radisson RED hotel in the country. Located in Phuket’s main commercial district, the hotel will feature 390 rooms with high-speed Wi-Fi, streaming services and USB ports, catering to the “new generation of ‘always-on’ travellers.” The lifestyle design will offer guests a video arcade, movie theatre, wellness amenities, a rooftop beach club and two pools. The property is the result of the conversion of an existing hotel in Patong Beach and is owned by Destination Group, which recently partnered with Radisson Hotel Group to open two other hotels in Thailand.
The hotel is expected to open in late 2023, and is designed to meet the needs of post-pandemic travelers to Phuket. The brand’s playful, art-inspired lobby features a red tuk-tuk and a life-sized sculpture of a red lacquered elephant wearing earphones, which will serve as the hotel’s mascot. A check-in app will be available for a stress-free arrival experience. The rooftop beach club, outdoor dining options, a secret speakeasy lounge, grab-go kiosk, power gym, wellness amenities, and kids’ club will keep guests entertained throughout their stay.
Phuket is currently leading Thailand’s post-pandemic tourism recovery and expects to attract 12 million domestic and overseas visitors in 2023, with the restart of direct flights from China in January 2023. Radisson Hotel Group announced earlier this year plans to expand its presence in Thailand with a multi-brand expansion that includes new hotels and resorts in key destinations such as Phuket. The Group currently operates six hotels in Thailand across four brands in Bangkok, Phuket, and Hua Hin.
