IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced that two independent hotels in Phuket, Thailand, will be rebranded under the Holiday Inn banner following a franchise agreement with Destination Group, a Thai hospitality and restaurant company. The Surin Phuket Beach Resort and Karon Phuket Beach Resort will be renovated and renamed the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach and Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Karon Beach, respectively, by 2023. The move expands IHG’s presence in Phuket and adds to its Holiday Inn portfolio in Thailand, which will number 12 once the two new hotels open. The 256-room Surin Beach property will feature family rooms and suites, three restaurants, and a kids club. The 224-room Karon Beach site will include family suites and plunge pool suites, as well as five restaurants and bars, three swimming pools, and a kids club. Gary Murray, CEO of Destination Group, said the two properties were well-suited to the Holiday Inn brand, which he described as offering “consistent, affordable and approachable service experience”.
